The crown jewel of Day 2. Ma Pi Leng Pass is consistently rated as one of the most spectacular roads in Asia. The engineering required to carve this road into sheer cliff faces using hand tools in the 1960s is almost impossible to comprehend.
Below the pass, Tu San Canyon plunges nearly 1,000 meters to the Nho Que River. The boat trip on the river is optional, but I strongly recommend it. Floating through the canyon while looking up at the road you just traveled gives you perspective on the scale of this landscape.
