New tourMore than a sightseeing trip. The Ha Giang Loop is a real adventure through remote villages, jaw-dropping mountain passes, and the living traditions of Vietnam's northern ethnic minorities.
At Loop Trails Tours Ha Giang, we run Ha Giang Loop motorbike tours, jeep tours, and the longer Ha Giang–Cao Bang loop covering 270 to 550 kilometers across two UNESCO Global Geoparks - the Dong Van Karst Plateau and Non Nuoc Cao Bang - through cliff-edge passes and villages where time slows down.
Every departure is led by certified local Ha Giang guides and easy riders born in these mountains. Whether you choose the freedom of a self-drive motorbike or the comfort of an open-top jeep, you'll ride with people who know every switchback, every viewpoint, every story.

Small groups, big memories. Fewer than eight travelers so your guide and easy riders can give personal care, keep you safe, and let the day flow at your pace.

Walk village lanes, visit local markets, and learn crafts with hosts from H'Mong, Tay, Lo Lo and Nung communities. Real moments along the Ha Giang Loop — not a staged show.

Led by licensed Ha Giang locals with official guiding cards and professional training. Clear English communication, deep route knowledge, and safe leadership on every pass.

Safety comes first for guests and staff. Quality helmets, elbow and knee guards, raincoats, and well-maintained bikes are standard on every Ha Giang motorbike tour.

Hand-picked stilt houses and mountain lodges with the best comfort and views. Private rooms for one or two, family rooms for groups — sleep well, wake to the peaks.

100% organic, locally sourced ingredients from Ha Giang's highlands. Delicious, healthy meals at every stop — vegetarian and vegan options always available on request.
Our guide Sean and driver Toan were both amazing and highly professional. The entire itinerary was very well planned. Sean spoke excellent English and took care of everything, making the journey completely stress-free. Beautiful, authentic accommodation. Toan did an excellent job driving — we always felt safe.

6 contributionsOur tour guide Son was friendly and helpful. He showed us some of the most beautiful routes and stops, not just the popular ones. We felt really safe during the whole trip. I can truly recommend Loop Trails for anyone wanting to enjoy the Ha Giang Loop and learn more about the region.

Friends · group tripBest experience ever. Ha Giang Loop is a must-do in Vietnam. The drivers were truly amazing — we now call them friends. They went above and beyond. It was my birthday during the loop and they surprised me with a cake. Shoutout to Hiếu and Su — #1 drivers on the loop.

Friends · 4D3N3D2N jeep trip with Son and Luan. We had high expectations and they were completely exceeded. If you're not a fan of motorbikes, the jeep is highly recommended. You go along all the small roads — you don't miss a thing. The food was very tasty. 100% recommended!

Groningen, NL · CoupleAs someone who has travelled extensively, this was the most exciting, fun, authentic experience I've ever had. We did the 3-day open-top jeep tour. 3D panoramic views for 3 days with the roof down, listening to music, drinking beers, enjoying the company of an amazing tour guide. Best experience of my life.

Friends · Jeep 3D2NDuring my five-month trip, I did the Ha Giang Loop with Loop Trails — definitely a highlight. The groups are small. Accommodations are clean and well-chosen. The Easy Riders are very friendly. Our guide and my Easy Rider, Sean, was an excellent rider and I felt safe. He shared a lot of information.

Solo · Easy RiderI went with my wife and two kids (18 and 21) for 4D3N. Loop Trails were extremely well organized. The drivers had amazing local knowledge. Have doubts about doing 4 days? Ignore them — best tour I've done in my lifetime. We preferred a smaller group versus the huge 20-30 rider groups.

Family · 4D3N5D4N jeep tour with our wonderful guide Son and driver Toan. Amazing time exploring both the Ha Giang Loop and Cao Bang. Each night we stayed in equally interesting places — a H'Mong homestay, a luxe hotel in Meo Vac, a beautiful farm, and a stone-house homestay beside a cave.

Hoboken NJ · 5D4N JeepMe and my fiancé had the most amazing 3-day motorbike tour with Son and Duc! We enjoyed unreal views, gorgeous food and had so much fun. Son's knowledge of the area was very impressive. We were sad to say goodbye and would come back in a heartbeat.

Sunrise breaking over Ma Pi Leng Pass. The slow rumble of an engine on an empty switchback. Stilt-house dinners with H’Mong families who don’t speak your language but somehow understand every laugh. The Ha Giang Loop isn’t a destination you tick off it’s a journey that rewires how you see the world. Three days, four days, sometimes five long enough to forget your inbox, short enough to feel every kilometer in your bones. Loop Trails has guided 100+ riders since 2021 across Dong Van Karst Plateau and Non Nuoc Cao Bang, two UNESCO Global Geoparks linked by Vietnam’s most legendary mountain road. Riders arrive as strangers and leave with friends, photos, and a story they’ll still be telling ten years from now. The only thing missing is you.

Yes, with the right preparation the Ha Giang Loop is safe for travelers. Loop Trails provides quality helmets, elbow and knee guards, raincoats and well-maintained motorbikes on every tour. Our certified local guides know every switchback and ride at a safe pace.
If you have no riding experience or aren't confident on mountain roads, we recommend our Easy Rider tour — you ride pillion behind a local expert driver. Jeep tours are another safe option for families and travelers who prefer comfort.
For self-drive motorbike tours, Vietnamese law requires an International Driving Permit (IDP) with class A1 endorsement matching your home country license. Travelers without a valid license should choose an Easy Rider or Jeep tour instead — no license required.
If you arrive without an IDP, we'll happily switch you to one of our license-free options before departure.
For self-drive: intermediate to advanced riding experience is required. The Ha Giang Loop has steep mountain passes, switchbacks and occasional gravel — not the place to learn. You should be comfortable on a semi-automatic 110-150cc motorbike for at least 6 hours a day.
If you're a beginner or unsure, the Easy Rider tour is our most popular choice — you simply hold on and enjoy the views. Jeep tours need zero experience.
Loop Trails runs daily departures year-round, but each season has its own beauty:
September – November: rice harvest gold + clear skies. The most popular time.
March – May: pear and plum blossoms, comfortable temperatures.
December – February: misty mornings, buckwheat flowers, cool weather (8–18°C).
June – August: green season with rice paddies in full color, occasional afternoon rain.
Whatever month you arrive, we have the right gear and route for the weather.
Yes — Loop Trails runs three types of Ha Giang Loop tours:
Self-drive motorbike — for experienced riders with an IDP. Maximum freedom.
Easy Rider — ride pillion behind a certified local driver. No license, no experience needed. Most popular option.
Jeep tour — open-top 4x4 with professional driver. All-weather, comfortable, ideal for families and photographers. Available for 2D1N, 3D2N, 4D3N and the 5D4N Ha Giang–Cao Bang loop.
Group tours — small groups of maximum 8 travelers from different countries. Great for solo travelers and budget-conscious riders. Daily departures, fixed itinerary.
Private tours — just you and your group with a dedicated guide and driver. Flexible itinerary, your own pace, custom stops. Best for couples, families, or groups of friends who want freedom.
Both options include the same accommodation quality, meals, and experienced local guides.
Yes, absolutely. Many travelers join our group tours as self-drive riders while their friends or partners go as Easy Rider passengers. You'll ride together, stop together, eat together — but you're in control of your own bike. Just make sure you have a valid IDP class A1.
The most common way is an overnight sleeping bus from Hanoi to Ha Giang City — about 6–7 hours. Buses depart Hanoi around 21:00–22:00 and arrive in Ha Giang at 04:00–05:00. You can rest at Loop Trails Hostel before your tour briefing.
We offer four bus options to book with your tour: VIP sleeping bus, cabin sleeping bus (premium private beds), limousine van (5–6 hours, fastest), and regular sleeping bus (most affordable).
After the tour, the same buses run Ha Giang → Hanoi — you'll arrive in Hanoi early morning the following day.
You can safely leave your big backpack or suitcase at Loop Trails Hostel in Ha Giang City before the tour starts. Free luggage storage, 24/7 CCTV security, and our staff is on duty around the clock.
For the loop itself, pack a small daypack only — motorbike storage is limited, and your luggage is safer at the hostel than on the road.
Keep it light — pack a small backpack with:
• 2–3 sets of comfortable clothes (layers — mountains are cooler)
• Long pants and closed shoes for riding
• A warm jacket (year-round, evenings get cold)
• Sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm
• Personal medication and toiletries
• Cash (ATMs are rare outside Ha Giang City)
• Power bank and camera
We provide helmets, knee/elbow guards and rain ponchos. No need to bring riding gear.
Each night is in a different hand-picked location along the loop — never the same place twice. Our accommodation includes stilt-house homestays in H'Mong villages, mountain lodges in Du Gia, and town hotels in Dong Van Old Quarter or Meo Vac.
All rooms have private bathrooms, hot water, and clean bedding. Private rooms for couples and family rooms for groups are available on request.
Every Loop Trails tour is all-inclusive:
• Professional English-speaking local guide
• Transportation (motorbike, jeep or SUV) and fuel
• All meals during the tour (except the last dinner on the final day)
• Homestay and hotel accommodation each night
• Entrance tickets and activities
• Quality helmets, elbow/knee guards, rain ponchos
• 1 bottle of water per day · travel advice before departure
Not included: personal expenses, drinks, tips for guide/easy rider, travel insurance, room upgrades, and the bus from Hanoi (book as add-on).
